This is considered 12 consecutive months without a period. Menopause can happen after surgical procedures such as a hysterectomy or a removal of fallopian tubes and/or ovaries. This can occur in your late 40s and on into your early to mid-50s. You can experience various changes, including the following:
Post Menopause
This is the time after menopause and it continues for the rest of your life. You can continue to have all the above changes and changes in your bone health, weight, skin, and cardiac health. These symptoms can get worse without treatment and lifestyle changes.
Atrophic Vaginitis/Lichenification of the Vulva and Perianal Areas
The hormone-related changes in the tissue of the vulva and vagina can lead to infections and skin changes. The estrogen levels decrease and cause dryness and skin changes. These are much like the skin changes on the arms, legs, and face.
